Ma Thida is a Myanmar writer, physician, editor, and human rights advocate, and a former prisoner of conscience. She chairs PEN International’s Writers in Prison Committee, and previously served on PEN International’s board and as founding president of PEN Myanmar. She has authored more than 25 books, spanning memoir, fiction, essays, and political commentary.
