Somnath Batabyal is a writer and academic based in London, where he teaches at SOAS. A former investigative journalist, his debut novel, The Price You Pay, was published in 2013 and adapted into the television series Crime Beat, directed by the acclaimed auteur Sudhir Mishra. His second novel, Red River, a lyrical saga of love and longing set in a fragile homeland, is published in the UK by Hope Road Publications.
