Ananya Jahanara Kabir is Professor of English Literature at King's College London and a Fellow of the British Academy. An interdisciplinary scholar, her work explores literature, history, memory, migration, and cultural exchange across South Asia and the Indian Ocean world. She is the author of Territory of Desire: Representing the Valley of Kashmir (2009), Partition's Post-Amnesias: 1947, 1971, and Modern South Asia (2013), and the forthcoming Alegropolitics: Creolizing Connection on the Afromodern Dance Floor (2027). She is the recipient of India's Infosys Prize for the Humanities and Germany's Humboldt Research Prize, and her current research examines creolisation across the Indian and Atlantic Ocean worlds, with a particular interest in Southeast Asia's history and culture.
