A discussion with a difference: how can we talk about food without gorging on it first? Experience the cuisine then sit back and chew the fat. Grab one of our maps, take to the streets of Penang, indulge in some of that world class street food, and then come back and speak to three renowned food writers as they explore the ins and outs of eating, talking, and writing about food.
Panelists: CK Lam, Ken Tho, John Krich
John Krich is a novelist, travel writer, columnist, critic and journalist with roots from the US but is constantly moving base. He has contributed to many major US publications such as the New York Times, Mother Jones, TIME/Asia, Village Voice and Salon.com. He was also the main food columnist for the Asian Wall Street Journal from 1999 to 2005; a collection of his best food writing was published as the book ‘A Fork in Asia’s Road’.
CK Lam is a Penang food writer, columnist and editor of What2See: Best of Penang Food!. She is a food and travel contributor to a variety of publications such as Time Out Penang and New Straits Times.
Ken Tho is a Penang food blogger on his blog Ken Hunts Food. He writes about his food escapades and also keeps another blog about his cooking endeavours at Ken You Cook (kencookrecipe.blogspot.co
